Autism Hub's Abuse of an Autistic Woman

These are the words of Amanda Baggs:

"This is my response to the Autism Speaks articles of understanding with
GRASP, the Global and Regional Asperger Syndrome Partnership.I am a non-speaking
autistic woman. While I do not agree with functioning labels, I have been
labeled low-functioning in the not-too-distant past and am onsidered severely
disabled. People who look at me without seeing me type often think that there is
nobody inside me. I have many of the difficulties described in Alison Tepper
Singer's article about her daughter, and more that she did not describe.It is
wrong to say that your own child has no skills. It is wrong to go on a national
video and say you have considered killing your autistic child. My parents faced
worse hardships with less privilege and never once thought of killing me. It is
wrong to condescendingly assume that autistic self-advocates have never heard of
those of us labeled low-functioning, and that somehow the so-called
low-functioning among us have no skills and need a cure, and that all you needed
to do was say we exist and then everyone would understand what you want to do to
us." http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZhnsEJRJgeA&eurl=

That word "LABELED" is the key here to show how Neurodiversity and the Autism Hub abuse autistic adults and all autistic people by making society think that autism is not that bad. While Amanda Baggs can type to communicate, this is not the case for the majority of autistic children who may look very similar to Amanda with her rocking and finger movements. She has the ability to pay attention long enough to learn the skill of typing, along with the alphabet and reading and writing. Severely autistic children can not acquire these skills.

Amanda is being used by the leaders of Neurodiversity to support their insidious propaganda by which they claim that autistic people should not be cured. Amanda is their poster girl as she is a seemingly, severely autistic person who states that she does not want to be cured. She doesn't even want to acquire the ability to speak so she can communicate without the keyboard. She also admits that she is not fully toilet trained and does not want to ameliorate that condition either.
Amanda is certainly within her rights to have this opinion. Neurodiversity using this opinion to tout their agenda of not curing any autistic children is despicable. My son can not communicate. I should say could not communicate since he has acquired some communication skills since chelation started. He is a much happier child now that he can tell us some of his needs.
Here are the words of a parent from the EOHarm list talking about trying to help a son: "My son had joint pain for his entire life until 6 months into chelating. He typed out, "My joints don't throb any more." That was his normal. Even though he had been typing things out for us since he was ten, he never mentioned his joints hurting. Not until the pain went away and he discovered that life didn't have to be this way did he tell us.

He thanks us over and over for chelating him because he is in so much less PAIN."
I don't care what Amanda Baggs tells us now under the influence of Neurodiversity. Her opinion means nothing as it it the words of someone who has never known what it is like to enjoy life without autism. The fact that she can communicate via typing is all well and good but, stopping her development there is an impediment to her right to achieve her potential. Neurodiversity will not use sane measures to point out to Amanda that she may benefit by treating her condition. Instead, they let her wallow in her disability and use her words to harm as many autistic children as possible by advising parents not to help their kids.
Supporting Amanda Baggs and her position about not curing autism is no different than supporting a college student on LSD who thinks he can fly by encouraging him to jump off a roof. Neurodiversity has encouraged Amanda to suffer with her disability while throwing her image all over the internet in a deranged attempt to convince sane parents to neglect their children by accepting brain damage.
As we see in the above example from a sane and caring parent, no cured autistic person asks to revert to having autism. Amanda Baggs would not want to revert either if she was cured.

Beautiful post:) My son can not communicate either, he is nonverbal as well. :( My son is a headbanger and I know that the headbanging is probably from him being frustrated because he has no words. He is trying to learn PECS, but it is coming ever so slowly.
If someone offered a cure to Autism (in our case) we would grab it immediately! My son would be so much happier and I know the self injurious behaviors would end. It is great to hear that Amanda is happy and comfortable with her Autism. I just think our situation is a different one. I respect everyones choices and hope that others respect ours as well.
I also think that my son who is considered profoundly Autistic situation is much more different that a higher functioning Autistic kiddos situation. I love my son and it is very painful to see him pulling his own hair or banging his head on the floor. I just want to do anything I can to help him.

I'm autistic and I wish my parents would cure me. I don't like not having any friends. I want to be like other kids.

My daddy isn't well. The child who was supposed to have been chelated wasn't chelated.

Megan,
I'm autistic as well and my daddy really loves me. He's curing me so I can talk and learn new things and won't want to hurt myself anymore.
I'm really excited cause I'll be able to have lots of friends and go to a regular school and not have to be bullied like other autistic kids.
I'm sorry your parents don't want to cure you. I hope your not too unhappy. I will be your friend if you want. You could be my little sister!

Amanda has been a well known autistic advocate (neurodiverse, basically) longer than Michelle Dawson has been, longer than I have been, longer than Kev has been, longer than Kathleen has been. How exactly are the "neurodiverse" using her. If anything we are following her lead by reading what she wrote like 3 or 4 years ago and agreeing with it. There aren't many known autistic advocates who have been out there longer than Amanda, not here in the US anyway. There's Jim Sinclair, and probably Jerry Newport. I think Amanda preceded Frank Klein and his online advocacy.

You're a sad little man, aren't you John Best Jr.?

KC's Mommy;
Thank you. Have you tried giving your son extra vitamin C? It stopped Sam's head banging almost immediately.

Ms Clark,

So you saw her blog and latched onto her like a leitch.

Can't you be content with your little dog?

Fore Sam said...

MS Clark;
It doesn't matter how long Amanda has been giving bad advice to people. Adults who should recognize the fact that autism is a horrible condition should be trying to help her. As I said in the post, encouraging her folly is like urging the kid on LSD who thinks he can fly to go ahead and jump off the roof.
I'm not sad at all Diva, my son's getting better which makes me very happy.

Fore Sam said...

Megan; Tell your parents about Generation Rescue. Some paremts are slow to learn things.

"Amanda has been a well known autistic advocate (neurodiverse, basically)"

What do you mean, "neurodiverse, basically"

In her own you tube video she describes herself as such,

"I am a non-speaking
autistic woman".

You are using her when you label her with YOUR own term as, "neurodiverse basically".

Give her some respect, and let her speak for herself as an "autistic advocate".

You know Kevin Leitch has been giving you some grief over on his site in regards to the AWARES conference. I find it fascinating. While I don't condone using children in these matters at all let's be real here. Didn't Mr. Leitch somewhat recently dedicate an entire post to another parents child and his treatment protocol? Didn't he name the child and allow his posters to attack the parent? He also did that by using information from a yahoo group specifically dedicated to those who are actively using a DAN!? How come Mr. Leitch can dish it out but can't take it? Legal action? Please Leitch... All anyone would have to do would be to print off copies of your blog to show the judge that you are equally as pathetic.

Anonymous said...

Do you have a link to this blog entry?

Jonsmum said...

I believe "anonymous" may be referring to JB Handley's biomed treatments for his son.
It's on Leitch's site, in archives under,

"Generation Rescue:Time to come

Fore Sam said...

Leitch is losing his mind about this and threatening me over on Joseph's blog. But, he doesn't have anything to say about his decision to cure his kid if she asks which goes against his "curing autism is killing the autistic person" insanity.
I think the actress named Megan Leitch was posting on AWARES but Kev insists it was someone impersonating his kid. I saw the posts and they didn't seem to be written by an autistic 6 year old.

Jonsmum said...

That actress Megan Leitch, has really "crossed the line".

Kev Leitch said;

"I tend to hold a grudge against people who try to hurt my kids".

Leitch seems to hold a grudge against anyone and everyone except those who have actually hurt his daughter, namely the vaccine manufacturers, the CDC, the FDA and the British government.

His next post may well be "Talking back to Mother Theresa"

Fore Sam said...

Jonsmum;
Have you looked at Leitch's blog? The nitwits are debating calling the cops on me.
It's like little kids yelling, "Nyaa, Nyaa, Nyaa, Nyaa, I'm gonna get you in trouble". You can guess which pending genius is leading this discussion.

Jonsmum said...

John;
Calling the cops!
What are they going to try and 'do you' for? Female impersonation!
Considering all the libellous statements posted on this and other blogs against us and our children, they've got some nerve.
I'm sure you could sue Wikipedia for their libellous references to "John Best".
I've noticed on Joseph's blog how they can't cope with anonymous comments. What hypocrites.

Jonsmum said...

John;
Couldn't Kevin Leitch, knowing your IP address, post comments using your address as a 'proxy server' to 'frame' you.
I don't know what constitutes identity theft in the USA, but I would consider looking into this matter.
I wouldn't put it past Leitch to stoop so low in his efforts to defame your character.

Fore Sam said...

Jonsmum;
I happened to come across some crap that the neuronitwits must have asked Wikipedia to publish under GR. I wrote to Wikipedia and they removed it immediately. Sane people see right through their childish nonsense. It didn't cross my mind to sue them since it made me laugh when I saw it. I'll bet whatever nitwit gave them the information did so anonymously anyhow.
I'm completely computer illiterate so I don't know what a proxy server is. You're right though. You can't stoop much lower than Leitch and Seidel using out of context quotes that they snatch from places they don't belong. It was pretty low of them to call a collection of Asperger's bloggers the Autism Hub to confuse the issue. I wouldn't put anything past the likes of those lowlifes.

Jonsmum said...

John;
I am computer illiterate also, but I am now aware that an IP address,(I think it stands for 'Internet Protocol'), is the computer equivalent of a 'unique' house address.
Kevin Leitch has a website rather than a blog and can identify anyone's IP address who comments on his site.
He also has sofware which can identify when someone has looked at his site, without even posting a comment, via their IP address.
I think a 'Proxy server' is someone who is able to use someone else's, or a false IP address to post/comment on the internet.

You would need access to IP addresses to post using someone else's address.
Kevin Leitch is the expert in this field and would be able to shed some light on whether I am right or wrong on this.

Fore Sam said...

Jonsmum; Sounds like it should be illegal. Someone would have to be paranoid to bother with all of that stuff.

Jonsmum said...

Kev Leitch;

"My son had joint pain for his entire life until 6 months into chelating. He typed out, "My joints don't throb any more." That was his normal. This could just as well be you're daughter, my son or Amanda Baggs.
Have thoughts like these ever crossed your mind?

Kathleen Seidel said...

That would explain why our rivers and ocean is so polluted.

Fore Sam said...

Kathleen; That's an astute observation. How come you can't understand that shooting mercury into babies pollutes their brains?

ballastexistenz said...

Actually, I'm quite aware of what pain is like, and I receive treatment for neuropathic pain (stemming most likely from structural nerve differences that date to before birth, I remember the pain since before I received any vaccinations or any such things). I only got treatment when I was 21. I'm not against genuinely alleviating pain, I'm against curing autism.

The reason I say "labeled" low-functioning is because I know that functioning labels are a sort of cognitive hallucination on the part of the people using them (not real, glossing over a lot of reality, but they never seem to notice that), not because I don't fit the description most people use. I don't believe that low- or high-functioning actually applies to anyone, unless it's in any particular very narrow area (like, high-functioning AT THIS TASK AT THIS TIME, etc). I also don't believe you can tell by looking from the outside, especially if you're non-autistic, what an autistic person's understanding of things is, enough to make the determination of what a person's overall abilities.

I also see the old but kind of dumb trick of saying that I'm simultaneously not autistic enough, and too autistic, to be right. Make up your minds.

ballastexistenz said...

Oh yeah, and if you'd read my website or anything, you'd know that headbanging and hair-pulling and so forth are things I'm quite experienced with, but somehow miraculously don't do them as much anymore without having been cured. (Gee, could it be that those things are not in and of themselves autism? Could it be that even learning to type and such do not make a person less autistic? Hmmm....)

Jonsmum said...

I've just been reading soapboxmom's blog and her post "On Anger and Autism", which seems to be more about her anger at being "kicked off" certain web forums.

I found one comment amongst many from "ZachiesMom" particularly touching.

Zachiesmom;
I hope you don't mind if I take the liberty of posing you're comment here;

"I personally am a mother of an autistic child and we do ABA therapy, speech, OT, and some diet things because my child has severe gastrointestinal problems along with immune deffincies .. diagnosed by a regular ped. dr. not a DAN Dr.... Anyways ... am I angry at Autism?? Nope, not really ... but I hate this disorder with a passion ... because I can see the longing in my lil' boys eyes when he's searching for a word he knows but it just won't come out ... His eyes like coffee gone cold as he screams and cries and rages into a fit because he just can't stop playing with the clay. So am I mad at Autism? No, but will I ever just believe that this is the way God intended my child to be for all his days on earth? No. I believe in a very loving and graceful God ... and I do not believe that He would want my child to look at me with those 4 year old lil' eyes that are worn and sad beyond thier years for the rest of his life. Am I angry at the school that I have to fight with on a constant basis?? Sure, it's my right to be. Am I angry that I feel my government lied to me ... that's also my right. Am I angry at the mother who stares and makes comments ... hurtful comments towards me and my son as he rages into a fit ... for a split second, but really No because she's just ignorant.
ZachiesMom"

As someone who is "banned" from commenting on soapboxmom's blog,

As far as "severely autistic children cannot acquire these skills," how do you know? I've met a large number of people who were, like me, regarded as just as severely autistic as anyone (many of us, more so than some of the children of parents that insist we're not severely autistic enough to understand "real" autism), etc, and learned typing. It took a long time and a lot of concerted effort for some people, but it's been doable. Some have even begun to speak after learning typing (some as ADULTS). So how do you know in kids, how do you separate out the ones who are like me from the ones who are not, given that all of us were in the exact same range of diagnosis and prognosis, well past early childhood, as the ones you call "really severely autistic". Isn't claiming that someone's incapable of learning to type or other aug comm methods (typing is not the only one), if they're severely autistic, a self-fulfilling prophecy? Where would those of us who have learned that, be, if people had believed such claims about us?

What to do with this Joe Barton? Shall some Ivy League bloke send him a memorable letter or shall we just hope he'll be flushed down the same toilet that Mr. Foley was? Amanda, The fact that you learned some skills is great. The fact that you couldn't gain those skills as a 5 year old means the autism screwed up your life.
You are associated with evil people who are using you. They are encouraging you to accept a woeful existence when there is a chance you could get rid of your disability and enjoy your life to the fullest. All 6,700 people on the Autism-Mercury list (minus trolls like Kathleen) are there to help autistic people. You would be much better off listening to these sane and caring parents than you are listening to the 50 scumbags who blog with the Autism Hub. The Autism Hub bloggers do absolutely nothing to help autistic people besides giving lip service to them by complaining about the attitudes of society. It would be much easier to help yourself than to it would be to change society. Kathleen Seidel is hazardous to your well being. You don't see her defending her idiocy to anyone who criticizes her, do you? Wake up and help yourself while you can.

kathleen said...

Right again John. You know me so well it's scary!
Again, don't tell anyone but I chelated my kid years before the public even knew about thimerosal in vaccines.

Still you can't blame me for cashing in on the 'autism epidemic'.
Everyone's gotta make a buck somehow.

Fore Sam said...

Kathleen; I understand you wanting to make a buck, especially since sane people know what you write is insane. However, don't you think it's really nasty to convince people like Amanda that they shouldn't try to help themselves? I mean, you cross a line by abusing the autistic people you claim to be helping.
BTW, is your kid recovered?

kathleen said...

Well, I can see where you're coming from but I'm not really concerned about anyone but me and mine.
Look after number one! That's my motto.
My kid's recovered. Why should I care about any other autistics?

Fore Sam said...

Kathleen; Your real estate taxes will go way down if we don't have to spend all that money on special ed.. Wouldn't that be a good reason to convince Amanda to seek a cure? Of course, you could do it in private so you don't lose that paycheck.

kathleen said...

Athough I'm not really concerned about Amanda, you have got a point about the taxes, and I would still get 'job satisfaction'.

Fore Sam said...

Kathleen; You could probably have Amanda hypnotized and give her a post hypnotic suggestion to chelate herself. She trusts you so you could pull that off.

kathleen said...

I'll try it, but you have to promise you won't say a word to anyone.
If Big Pharma found out about this it would be the end of my career.

Why do people hate autistic adults so much?

I cry when I see all this hate. We are not all bad people.

This is my first time posting in any of these blogs. Im scared to. Im afraid you will all hate me.

I just want you all to know that autistic people have feelings it hurts to see so much hate out there about us.

I saw that womans video and looked up to her because she was braver than me to speak of how she feels.

Did you see the video she did where she talked about seeing another person with a disability forced by staff memebers to get on the floor and act like a dog for a glass of water??

Nobody should be treated that way.

I am not trying to be mean. I just wanted to let you know that this stuff hurts people so much.

I don't hate autism. I hate - hate.

I don't hate adult autistics, and I dont think "people hate" adult autistics.
I promise you that no one on this blog hates you or thinks you are "bad".
The people I think are bad are those people, who would like to stop parents of autistic children from helping then, or finding a cure for autism.
Lots of children and adults are severely affected by autism, and just as I do not know how it feels to be an 'aspie', people with aspergers and non autistic people do not know how it feels to be severely autistic.
A lot of poeple who call themselves neurodiverse, blame the parents of autistic children for harmimg themselves by saying our children are frustrated because we don't understand how to treat or communicate with them.
This is what they want people to believe about parents who either want, or believe autism is curable.

Thousands of children and adults with autism suffer from things like;

OCD
Anxiety disorders
Panic attacks
Phobias
Self injurious behaviour
Chronic or acute insomnia
Incontinence
Ritualistic behaviour
Language delay or no language
No sense or awareness of danger
Sensory issues

These problems/conditions can be overwhelming and crippling to adults and children, to the point where they have a very poor quality of life.
This is not a good thing. As a parent I see my son distressed, anxious and enraged. Hurting himself by punching brick walls because we have to wait to cross a road.
This is not because I don't understand, him have no patience with him, hate him or "are too stupid to realise he's not a worthless being". It is because he is severely autistic.

"Did you see the video she did where she talked about seeing another person with a disability forced by staff memebers to get on the floor and act like a dog for a glass of water??

Nobody should be treated that way"

No I didn't see the video and it sounds horrific and nobody should be treated this way.
If I were a staff member in that room I would phisically attack the other staff members for doing this.
I wouldn't care about my own safety, I would be so angry with those people I wouldn't be able to stop myself.

John Best named the title of this blog as "Hating Autism".
I can't speak for him, but for me this title doesn't mean hating autistics, but hating a condition that I believe was caused by the poison in vaccines that have ruined my childs life.

If you still think anyone hear hates adult autistics, have a look at the conversation on this blog, with Rossco (an adult autistic), at the end of the Post, "Autism Hub AKA Insanity Is us"

I know many of these issues. I have lived with mosts of them my entire life. Only ones I have not lived with is incontinence and OCD. I have severe sensory issues. I did not verbalize well as a child. Have become more verbal in last several years. I talk to much now and say the same things over and over alot. Just learned to communicate through typing online in last couple years too. Mostly this year. I am a headbanger when overwhelmed. Have been hated for that. I get no help for it and have tried to overcome it on my own the bests I can. Oh I have a gluten allergy we know that is real.

I have a good thing though. I discovered how to make videos in a movie making program this year. I am 100% visual learner and I love making these videos it brings me much joy.

I am trying to tell you all that where I live nobody gives a shit about the adults. Sorry to cuss but I can't think of a better way to say it. I do believe children should always come firsts but I feel for adults who want the appropriate help and they can not get it.

I have been in institutions and I have seen others deprived of food. I have been forced to take meds even when I fainted and had no heartbeat they wanted me to take more. I was afraid I would die and when I said no they forced it and I fainted again had no b/p and was rushed to hospital. I have bad reactions to meds.

I went to jail once cause of screaming and they yelled stop and I kept screaming they all sat on me I screamed more. I was scared. They did not care. My family told them I was autistic they did not care.

I also ramble to much so I will stop now. LOL

Thank you all for your input.

Liar. You know that's not the case, and I know it's not the case because last I checked you NEVER HAD YOUR SON TESTED FOR MERCURY POISONING! Never. However, if you can convince people that chelation cures autism or that mercury causes it - well, it makes your butt-buddy JB Handley happy and probably gets you in good with the quacks and trial lawyers trying to rip off the American public.

Yes. I am a Claymate. :)

"it sounds like you could have been misdiagnosed as aspergers instead of classic/Kanner's autism."

I don't know what Kanner's means but we do know that I seem to fall into the autism diagnosis from early childhood issues. I think I was diagnosed aspergers cause I can speak. I want you all to know though that I have family members who have aspergers and I love them so much. I think the label does not matter to me as much as the right kind of help.

Where I live I was lucky to get any diagnosis.

I saw my social worker today and asked him why my caseworker has not spoken to me once in over a year. He said because she has to many cases and to be patient. I said I have been patient for about 3 years or so and had a meltdown. First time I head banged in public in awhile but I think I am fed up. Then I screamed at him this is autism could you idiots learn about it. At least I am getting braver. I guess I am getting more social skills too. I hope they don't get me in trouble. :) I seem to head bang for 2 reasons.

1. When really mad or frustated but it does take alot. 3 or 4rs in my system and I did not loose it til today. So usually do ok but have a limit I guess.

2. When really overstimualted like to much info coming at me to fasts. If I break things down to one step at a time I do better. If to many people talk to me all at once that tough on me to follow and I can get cranky or cry or meltdown. If they are yelling not talking I can meltdown. It scares me and I freak out. I usually cant remember everything I do or say in a big meltdown. I remember parts of it but not all of it.

I just put in a blog here. I think I am having seizures and they are getting worse. MS symptoms too. I dont know how to link you to the blog though. These are new symptoms that started about 4 years ago.

I was never on a computer much before. I started getting dizzy, headaches and nauea when scrolling pages and refreshing them. I can't play my video games no more I get sick. I try with sunglasses on though. :)

A women helped me find a neuro docter. I see him this month. I hope he tests me right. Took 4 years to get to one. Drs. have been blowing this stuff off as its been progressing.

I will check the links you all shared too.

PS: I not sure how to quote someone the right way her so just winging it. :)

No neurologists or mainstream doctors will treat autism because they caused the condition by putting mercury into all of us. Correcting their mistake by curing anyone would damage their collective reputations. Forget about them.
The fact that others in your family have Asperger's probably means that you have a family trait that you can not rid yourselves of metals. It's never too late to start chelation.

Buttar and others address the cause of the autism. They've gone against the ancient notion that teachers could cure mercury poisoning. When this information makes it into textbooks at Oalu U., pending psychologists may grasp an understanding of the subject. Until then, they will continue to make fools out of themselves while parents with brains that work right cure their kids.

Amanda Baggs does not carry the diagnosis of autism alone. Amanda Baggs claims to carry an MR diagnosis as well depending on how she feels that morning when she wakes up in the morning. Amanda Baggs does not represent all autistics, she represents herself. What she has to say in meaningless in the eyes of many parents as we do not want our kids to grow up to be like her and have her views. I was directed to a forum where Amanda Baggs has claimed to be biosexual stating that she prefers women over men. For someone so low functioning who does not have sensation to use the restroom on her own and does not have control of her hands unless she is typing on a computer I don't see her performing oral sex on a woman or putting a strap on anytime soon. She is a liar. Her videos are fake. It is obvious that her stimming is self invoked and when her cat came near her she picked it right up and was able to control her stimming. Then claimed that it was a therapy cat. Does a therapy cat even exist? Excuses excuses

John I know you won't post this either but here goes anyway.
Your children can learn to type. Many Autistic tend to be hyperlexic. They can learn to type easier than they can learn to talk. My totally non-verbal 6 year old who is struggling with PECS and sign language can type his name, drink, eat, swim, and potty. The thing you have to get for them if they have hypotonia (like my son has) is the kids keyboards with the really large keys until their muscle tone improves enough for them to have the motor control to use a regular keyboard. To kc's mom I want to say that it is more likely that your son head bangs in order to have sensory stimulation. Try deep muscle massage combined with rhythmic counting when he is headbanging. Also don't ever lightly brush against your son. Any touch should be firm. Light touch causes pain in SID kids. If he is not hypertensive to water take him swimming or put him in a tub when he is having an episode of headbanging. "Stimming" is self stimulatory behaviors and they are a necessary part of life for us. What cannot happen is dangerous stimming behaviors. Headbanging is dangerous and it can be replaced as a stimming behavior if you help the child's sensory processing integrate faster. It will eventually integrate but there is real help for improving the level of integration as well as the time frame for that development. i hate to hear that you see your son as less than a person because he is Autistic. If they offered me a "cure" for me or my kids I would say no. A huge part of the person that I know and love in Joshua is Autism. If I ripped that out of him he would not be the same person. he would be worse. He would be destroyed. that is not what I want for my chid. No thank yo I will keep my Autistic kids. After all God thought i was good enough to get to raise his most precious children. Who am i to question how he made them or how he made me. GOD MADE MA JUST THE WAY I AM AND GOD DON'T MAKE NO JUNK. I was once a biomed believer. I was until biomed proved itself to be a huge pack of lies. I will soon share that story in one of my videos at youtube
